While all Starships are called on to assist any vessel in trouble, the TEJAS, when called upon, the ship actually goes to a planet that is being attacked. Their mission is to rescue as many colonists as they can even while they are under fire. Therefore, the ship has been fitted with multiple transporters, computer capabilities, shield emitters and extra quarter capacity in order to be able to accommodate the colonists.
